Recruiting Services. Since
graduating from Westhampton
College at the University
of Richmond in 1979, I have
worked in the “people
placement business.” In 1994, after years of managing both
permanent and temporary staffing
agencies from Washington,
D.C. to Atlanta, Georgia,
I opened my own recruiting
company. After twenty-five
plus years of placing people
with a wide array of skill
levels in many types of positions,
I have gained significant
insight into companies, candidates,
trends, and technologies. The intuition and instincts
I have developed are critical
in securing appropriate candidates
for my customers.
Early in 1995, I began specializing in telecommunications and technology recruiting. Today the vast majority of individuals in my files have some kind of technology sector experience.
My candidates come from CLEC’s, ILEC’s, carriers, software
companies (ERP, EAI, supply chain, CRM,
network management, BSS/OSS, messaging,
etc.), internet companies, equipment
manufacturers, consultancies, and systems
integrators. They come from a variety
of disciplines: sales, marketing, business
development, finance, operations,
engineering, corporate security, public
relations, human resources, program
management, legal, and regulatory. They are Managers,
Directors, Vice Presidents and Officers.

search, I will know right away whom
to call for your vacant position, or
I’ll know where
to look for referrals. If I believe that
your search is outside of my scope of
capabilities, I will inform you right
away.

Although I have in my database candidates from all across the
United States, the majority
of my candidates are located
in the eastern half of the
country. I have large concentrations
of candidates in cities such
as Boston, New York, Washington,
Atlanta, Chicago, Tampa,
Miami, and Dallas, with
candidates in smaller markets as well.
The majority of my candidates come from personal referrals.
With eleven years in telecom
and technology recruiting,
I have established an expansive
network of business contacts.
Every week I receive unsolicited referrals from
individuals within my network
of contacts. Former and current
candidates and customers
willingly share with me names of prospective candidates
for specific searches. I
rarely advertise for candidates
on any of the popular large-scale
recruiting sites or in newspapers. With
personal referrals, I am
certain to get top quality
candidates who have been
endorsed by people I know and trust. As a result, you,
my customer, gain access
to candidates who will perform
well as employees and who
will make a positive contribution to your company’s success.

Many of my candidates have backgrounds in both domestic and international corporate environments. Some have lived abroad, some live abroad currently, some are eager to accept international assignments. Many of my candidates are bilingual, some are multilingual, and some are multicultural. I have had very good success finding candidates with an international background for my global clients.
The first step in successfully filling your open position is
for me to gain a clear understanding of your company, your culture,
your products, your competitive differentiators, and your goals.
Then, you communicate to me the duties of the position, the background
that is required to carry out those duties, and the parameters of
the compensation package. Once we agree upon the custom service
level that best fits your needs, I begin your search, submitting
resumes either by e-mail or fax. I set up phone and in-person interviews
and check “soft” references on finalists. When you
ultimately decide upon a particular candidate, I make recommendations
and provide information that will enable you to extend an offer
that will effectively secure that candidate.

As a small business owner, I make decisions quickly about matters concerning your account. Any special requests require only my consideration for approval. If your search is confidential, I am the only person handling your request, eliminating the possibility of information leaks. If a mistake is made, it is quickly identified and easily remedied. The candidates and customers who know me best have observed
that I balance my business
requirements with an active
family life. My husband is
a 20+ year IBMer, and we
have 2 busy teenagers. Our
son plays travel ice hockey, and our daughter enjoys playing
soccer at her high school.
We live on a 20 acre farm
where we raise, train and
sell horses, of which we currently have 8. Add
to that 6 cats and 3 dogs,
and clearly there is never
a dull moment in the Brodie
household!
My recruiting business has been such
a blessing in our lives. It has allowed me the flexibility to devote
valuable time to my family, while at the same time providing for me
a very good living and a wonderfully challenging profession. I enjoy
this work as much today - after almost 11 years in operation - as I
did the first day that I established the business back in 1994. Finding
jobs for people and people for jobs is my life's work, which I plan
to continue for many years to come.
